Meet our school of dance instructors!

Anna Frolova

     Anna started dancing at the age of 5 in the Barvinochok ensemble in Kyiv. At age 6, Anna attended the choreographic school at the Pavlo Virsky National Dance Ensemble of Ukraine for 8 years. In 2002, she entered the choreographic studio at the Virsky Ensemble where she studied for 2 years. In 2003, at the age of 16, Anna was accepted into the Pavlo Virsky National Academic Dance Ensemble of Ukraine where she was taught by teachers who worked with Pavlo Virsky himself. Anna’s professional career in Virsky spanned 22 years during which time she performed in concerts and was featured in leading solos.

     In addition to dancing, Anna also studied at the State Academy of Management of Culture and Arts of Ukraine starting in 2004. She received a bachelor's degree in the specialty of "choreographer-teacher of a folk-dance ensemble". In 2018, Anna received the honorary title “Honored Artist of Ukraine” for her significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian choreographic art. Over the past 10 years, Anna has been invited to conduct numerous Ukrainian Dance master classes, rehearsals and technique classes for both adult and children’s dance ensembles. She has worked with children aged 5 to 14 teaching not only dance, but also cheerleading and rhythmic gymnastics.

     In 2025, Anna retired from the Virsky Ensemble and emigrated to Canada. After moving to Edmonton, Anna teaches virtuoso technique and folk choreography at the Shumka School. Currently, Anna is also the Artistic Director of the Vohon Ensemble.

Anna will be teaching at the Beverly Studio (Saturday), Chobitok (Saturday) and Ballet.

     Kostya started dancing at the age of 6 in the Luhansk Folk Ensemble Zironka, where he studied and performed both folk and modern choreography. At the age of 15, he entered the Pavlo Virsky Studio in Lyiv where he studied professional academic folk choreography, classical ballet, characteristic dance, tricks and acting.


     In 2010, Kostya was promoted to the Pavlo Virsky Ukrainian National Folk Dance Ensemble and danced with them for 15 years. He was one of the advisors in the trade union at the ensemble. In 2015, he received a bachelor's degree with honors, with the qualifications of ballet master of folk choreography, teacher of professional disciplines, and artist of folk choreography. In 2019, he received the high title “Honored Artist of Ukraine”.


     Since 2018, Kostya has been conducting seminars and master classes for amateur groups in Ukraine of all ages, from age 4 to adult. In 2020, he started as an acrobatics teacher in a cheerleading association. Kostya immigrated to Canada in 2025 and has been dancing with the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers as well teaching a class for the Shumka School.


Kostya will be teaching at the Southside Studio (Tuesday), the Beverly Studio (Saturday), Chobitok (Saturday) and Ballet.

Talia Chander

    


     Ukrainian dance is Talia’s greatest passion, and she is excited to share her enthusiasm with dancers once again this summer! Talia danced with the Cheremosh School of Dance for 11 years before joining the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company in 2022.

 

     She is proud to have been involved in Cheremosh's 50th anniversary tour, Mriya: Life in Rhythm (2022), as well as the Vydnokray Tour (2025), granting her the opportunity to travel across Western Canada and the Balkans with the Company.

 

     Talia has been an Assistant Instructor for the Cheremosh Academy for four years and an Instructor for the School of Dance for one year, and is passionate about shaping the next generation of Cheremosh dancers. 


Talia will be teaching at the Southside Studio (Tuesday).
