Edmonton Journal: An explosion of Ukrainian folk-dance energy


Salena Kitteringham. Western Canada is home to several large Ukrainian dance companies and the ties that bind these well-established organizations are like the long, intertwining branches of a family tree, criss-crossing the Prairies.
In fact, in 2007, the three artistic directors for the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company in Edmonton, the Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Ensemble in Calgary and the Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble in Winnipeg were related, either by blood or marriage. Read more…

The Commuinity Press: Cheremosh dancers bring Ukrainian flavour to Daysland


Christine Cherry. The Community Press. The Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company of Edmonton dazzled the crowd during their Sunday afternoon performance at the Daysland Palace Theatre, presented by Daysland and District Cultural Arts Society.
The troupe of 36 semiprofessional dancers performed a variety of dances that highlighted the agility and athleticism of the male dancers and the grace and beauty of the female troupe members. Read more…
