Cheremosh shares Larisa Sembaliuk Cheladyn’s stunning piece of Canadian Art.


As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, Cheremosh commissioned Alberta artist, Larisa Sembaliuk Cheladyn to create a painting representative of this history. Larisa chose to create an eight-panel, 16-foot long watercolour capturing the regional variations of Cheremosh’s costuming over this 40-year period (see above). Hot on the heels of their 2011 sojourn to Bulgaria, where Edmonton’s Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company was named the Absolute European Champion of Folklore for 2011, the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company’s return to Ukraine has yielded wide acclaim for the company and its Artistic Director, while the dancers experienced an unexpected emotional rollercoaster. A Time I’ll Never Forget


Going into this trip to Ukraine I wasn’t quite sure how things were going to pan out. I was nervous to be putting my body through that amount of intense work and also pretty apprehensive to jump into a country that is not like those of which I have vacationed before. My expectations with Cheremosh were met and passed insurmountably. From the first bus ride from the airport to the final day in Kyiv, every experience I had was magical. Read more…

Meeting Family in Lviv

My sister, Lauren, and I were very excited to get to Lviv on this tour – even if it was after an overnight train ride that was a little bumpy. We were going to meet our relatives there.
