Lithographic Print Debuts in Toronto

Larissa Hanging PrintAn Ensemble of Colour by Larisa Sembaliuk Cheladyn made it’s debut in Ontario at the Toronto Ukrainian Festival on Bloor Street, September 16-18, 2011.

The original watercolor painting, featuring 40 years of Cheremosh dance costuming, was on display at the KUMF art gallery. Large, limited edition prints were on display and sale in the “Art by Larisa” tent.

Over 500,000 people attended the 3 day Ukrainian festival and it is estimated that at least 60,000 had a chance to come by and meet the artist and admire the magnificent wardrobe of costumes that Cheremosh has acquired over 40 years of performances. A seven minute video clip created by Gail Currie helped tell the story of the wardrobe and how “An Ensemble of Colour” evolved from a simple idea to a 4’x16 painting – Larisa’s biggest painting to date.
