Daniel Berry has been involved in the Ukrainian Dance Community for over 32 years. Daniel is enthusiastic and dedicated in his approach to ensuring first class instruction to many different levels of dancers and students.
Daniel began his Ukrainian dance training at the age of three. At the age of 9, Daniel joined Chumak where he trained under the direction of Artistic Director/Ballet Master Mykola Kanevetz. At age 13 he went on to dance with Chermshyna and at the young age of 15 he was accepted into the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company where he continues to be an active cast member. As a cast member, Daniel has performed in many lead roles. He is proficient in many Ukrainian Dance regions, character dance and classical ballet. As part of his tenure with Cheremosh, Daniel has travelled across Canada, the United States, New York, Scotland, Bulgaria, China and most recently to Ukraine where he was privileged to study and dance with the world renowned Virsky Dance Ensemble. In 2016 he took on the role of Assistant Artistic Director with the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company and was awarded an Honorary Lifetime membership to recognize his commitment and dedication to the Society.
Daniel has been instructing with the Cheremosh School of Dance since 2015 and has previously held instructor positions with St. Basil’s Ukrainian Cultural Society (2000 – 2005) and another local recreational dance group. Of course his heart, passion, love and dedication remains with the Cheremosh School of Dance because of its dedication to the Ukrainian culture and the warm, nurturing and encouraging environment it cultivates and promotes.
